Too Many Posts on Home Page…Solution Needed!

    Hello, I’m using the Arthemia theme and I’ve gone through all the possible solutions posted here and elsewhere and for the life of me I can’t get my front page posts down to six or seven. I’ve changed the php query syntax to show as few as 2 posts, and it’s still around 14. I’ve disabled plugins and nothing doing. Ditto for changing the values in Reading under Settings. I’ve tried two different plugins, Different Posts Per Page and Custom Post Limits and no way Jose. PUHLEEZEE, someone help. This is making a substantial difference to the load time of the home page. Thanks.

    Have you requested help from the theme author? It seems like they have pretty good documentation on getting what you want to do accomplished.

    what is the current code of index.php of your theme?
    (please paste the code into a http://pastebin.com/ and post the link to it here)

    do you still have any plugins activated to control the number of posts?

    have got any ‘sticky’ posts?

    Thanks for your replies. Yup, I’ve followed the recommendations from Arthemia and TechVirgin, which is actually a better resource, and still no success. I’ve got only 8 sticky posts, but still get about 15 on the home page. I already deleted all the plugins to control posts as they didn’t work. Sorry, don’t know what you mean by current code of index.php and pasting code into pastebin.com. Still new to this. Ta.

    don’t worry about the code of index.php; it is not important.

    there are 13 posts in that section on the front – subtract the 8 sticky posts – that leaves just one mystery post.

    if you could find 9 sticky posts, this would be solved 😉
