file permissions for podcasting

We are to upload podcasts on our website using WordPress uploads and play it using media player plugin.

I wish to disable directory showing mp3 files, but at the same time plugin shall play it. default file permission is 777, i tried to set it 755, which shows file doesn’t found. Any help please??
