• I got up this morning and found that my site had been hacked. The index file in the main root had been changed; which begs the question – was this file changed through wp-admin or my host.

This is particularly disturbing as I have a reseller account hosting other wordpress themes.

  • there are no known security issues with your version of wordpress
most hacks are caused by a bad password(s) on a shared server

    Thanks for the reply.
Is it even possible to change the index.php from wp-admin? And the index file I’m referring to isn’t the one in the themes folder, it’s the one that hangs outside of all of the folders. In other words, when I log into my host, it’s the only index file that can be seen.

    not from wp-admin
but once on the server anywhere, they can pretty much inject anything they want to

    That’s what I was thinking.

    GRRRR!!!

These idiots from JustHost are smokin crack. Just out of professional curiosity, can you recommend a reliable host provider or is that taboo?

I’ve used ASO for years without problems
no host on a shared server is immune to hacks though – they are only as strong as their weakest user
