Can anyone recommend a good php editor. Preferrably a free or open source one?
Since 2.0 came out, wordpad just isn't cutting the mustard.
:)
thanks.

Try Crimson Editor.

There are so many out there :-)
I have tested many editors and for about one year I am using PS Pad. It has many features, syntax highlighting for many languages, lot of HTML features, project tree, and many more.
I am using PS Pad for CSS, (X)HTML, PHP and ini files.
thanks, I'll try both!
I like that PS Pad. The crimsoneditor was nice, too. But I was able to get FTP to work in PS Pad.
Nice to be able to edit on the fly like that. thanks.
You can find a good list of recommended plain text editors (aka "php editors") here: http://codex.wordpress.org/Glossary#Text_editor
I use Notepad++ for all my source file editing. It makes a great replacement for Notepad and Wordpad for doing any sort of programming work. It supports any source of programming language you can think of with a full range of features.
Please note for the future that:
A. It's likely we won't know what OS you're running off of. Telling us this would improve suggestions and recommendations.
B. This questions comes up often (quite!) on the forums.
C. The link macmanx provides above covers the gamut on this request.
D. I'm partial to TextPad (Windows), due in large part to using it for so long. It's shareware, but the download trial is fully featured.
I too am using NotePad++
Another good editor I found is PHP Designer at http://www.mpsoftware.dk/phpdesigner.php
NotePad++ for me as well in Windows
Bluefish in Linux
