a frozen version that works exactly or close to how a live WordPress site would behave? good luck. :)

out of curiosity, what exactly are you trying to accomplish?

    Hi,

we organized a challenge, bringing computers to a school in Mali. we had during all taht time a website. I would like to give to the poeple going to Mali a CD containing the website so they could show it to the poeple there as they do not have an internet connection.

it would just be an archive of the site to see text and pictures. nothing fancy.

    Philippe

an alternative I am working on is to make a live CD (ubuntu probably) containing apache/PHP/MySQL/wordpress. I am almost done with the software part, I still have to make the deb to populate the site.

in fact the live cd has been put on a hard drive as there is a lot of dust problem in Mali (hence short life for cd drive). the HD behaves as a cd (read only) but it is faster.

I would be interested to know if you had a successful result, Philippe - although by not including an email address in your profile it does make it hard to contact you.

I have a very similar situation (also for Africa) and I would prefer to have a real static site, the Live CD option is also being considered. But it has to be fool proof at the user's end, and that is why a true static site would be best.

    Fraser.
