Upgrading from 3.0 > 3.1 fails with weird error message!?

    Hi,

    I’ve tried to upgrade from 3.0 to 3.1 but I get the following error message:

    Incompatible Archive.: PCLZIP_ERR_BAD_FORMAT (-10) : Unable to find End of Central Dir Record signature

    !?

    I get the same error when I try to update NextGenGallery (but other plug-in updates worked fine).

    Any ideas?? And it can’t be because of hard disk space, I’ve got 40 Gb left …

    Hello, I had the same problem since 2.8.2, and I solved it by commenting out mbstring.func_overload in my php.ini file:

    ; mbstring.func_overload = 7

    Upgrades and uploads worked perfectly after that.

    Can you SSH into server and unzip a simple zip – to ENSURE its not disk space?

    Hi 123,

    Thanks for answering but that line has already been commented out.

    I’ve also SSH into my server and unzipped a newly uploaded 136 MB file without problem so it’s not a disk space problem!

    Any other suggestions?

    The only thing I did recently was update my Ubunutu installation:

    sudo apt-get update
    sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

    I’ve solved my problem but it probably won’t help you … I had a download problem! Once I resolved that the installation/upgrade went smoothly.

    Good luck though! Check on your disk space?
