Categories Disappearing…again?

Have you tried:

– deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

– switching to the Twenty Ten theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

– resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

Mine just came back by the next morning after I had the problem. It just fixed itself. I’m very convinced this is a Worpress problem.

I hope someone gets back to you with a solution. This is the main thing I don’t like about Worpress; being at the mercy of volunteers – bless their hearts – but not a good thing when you have to have your website up and running. No-one to hold responsible, no-one to turn to…

Far more likely to be a server problem.

You need to speak to your hosts about it. I’d also advice making daily database backups until the issue is resolved.
