Adding WP style tables to Admin panel

The tables in the core admin pages are nicely styled, make us of AJAX functions for deletes, edits etc, have ‘select all’ tick boxes and can be ordered.

For example the list of posts on the main edit page wp-admin/edit.php

I was wondering if any of this functionality is open to plugin authors through WP functions/classes – if so can anyone point me to the right documentation or knows of a plugin that had a good example to follow.
