• I would like to turn off the ability for users to post comments to all posts, pages, everywhere; is this possible? I want only to be available through a Contact page. Thanks for any help!

    Control panel; settings > discussion

By “control panel” I think you mean “dashboard” certainly not the cpanel… Okay, in dashboard > settings > discussion I see no button I haven’t seen already 🙂 so…I checked the box “automatically close comments on articles older than [ ] days” and entered 0 in the box. This did not work.
Any other ideas, or am I missing something, here?
    Thanks!

    Method 1:
Settings -> Discussion -> uncheck “Allow people to post comments on new articles”

    Method 2:
Settings -> General -> Uncheck “Anyone can register”
Settings -> Discussion -> Check “Users must be registered and logged in to comment”

    Method 3:
Edit page.php and single.php and remove the function call to the comments template from the theme files.

Removing Comments Functionality – Help please

I followed the sage advice above in Method 3. That and some other “deletes” I did.

But – we still see the words, “Leave a Comment -> ” displayed on the Home Page Sticky Post.

Question: How do we get rid of that?

By the way, I have left 3 emails plus one voice message at the contact info given at “Automatic” — alas, Not a word back — I guess the people at Automatic subscribe to the philosophy we saw back in high school: same as the old 4F-Club Saying.

As mentioned above, you can make sure future posts are set to not accept comments. For current posts, you need to go to the page you want to edit, just below the menu bar is “Screen Option.” Click the arrow and you’ll see options to see other features of your page.

Check ‘Comments’ and then scroll down. You can then uncheck the option to allow comments on that page or post.

*Answering this b/c a client just emailed me this question.*
