• So… once again trying to update WordPress automatically fails. Sure wish with all the post of previous auto upgrade failures someone could systematically say why this happens. If one cannot upgrade via the auto upgrade why have it?

Anyway… I digress. So… as the auto upgrade failed… I am not seeing the list of what the new files are so that I can upgrade manually has I am always forced to do.

Can someone please point me to the list of the upgraded files?

    Cheers!

It’s huge. You should just manually upgrade all the files instead.

Well… that’s my question here in the post… Also, if it’s that huge… how does one upgrade?

    You got’s to love it!!

So… as already mentioned the automated upgrade fails.
And following the exact steps listed here: http://codex.wordpress.org/Upgrading_WordPress

    … fails also.

Once manually upgrading all the files the blog site just renders a blank page while the hour glass continues to spin. Fun times!

Thank goodness I not only made a backup of the blog directory but also took a snapshot of the server prior so that I was able to restore to the previous state successfully.

    So much for upgrading.

    Try:
    – switching to the Twenty Ten theme by renaming your current theme’s folder in wp-content/themes using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides. You may need to try logging into your site to get this to kick in fully.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

    – re-running the upgrade manually.

Thanks for the reply esmi however, I am not clear what you are suggesting.

PS… I host the blog myself on my servers.

Ok… so I just tried manually again to update to 3.1. I got further this time to the page where it prompts me to update the database. I did and the page said the DB was updated successfully. I can access the ADMIN page by going to the actual URL, however, I can not access the blog itself http://blog.jollyrogersmotorcycleclub.com. It just continually says, “Website found. Waiting for reply”, in the browser status bar and the page is blank.

The site is now down… any suggestion here would be welcomed.

Ok… nevermind… as it has been over an hour now with the site down I had to restore the backup I have of it.

    Thanks for all the help!

    Cheers
