Support » Fixing WordPress » Internet Explorer 9 and editor

  • Dear support,

I have a problem with IE9 RC: when I write an article in WYSIWYG view (in backend), and select HTML (code) tab, then all writed words will be empty/deleted. If I turn on compatibility view, then editor working good.

This bug in editor, or any problem?

    Thanks,
    Mykee

  • IE9 is still in beta. Use IE8 for the time being.

Now that IE9 is no longer a beta and officially released, can this issue be addressed? Does anyone have any insight for us?

We are finding problems using IE9 and WordPress too. Can’t edit anything without switching between View & HTML first and even then can’t seem to add hyperlinks or change font colour/size/style. Switched to Chrome and all worked OK.

I was having problems with my site as well. Speed was signficantly slower and I couldn’t edit anything. I switched to Firefox and that solved the problem. IE9 stinks!

I said, but look what was respond a month ago…
I think this is editor problem, no browser compatibility. Speed is no browser bug, there is any incompatible problem (widgets or script).
I waiting fix for editor problem.

I also have the same editor problems with IE9 and I’m surprised that no more people or reporting it.
Perhaps we will see more complaints in the coming weeks when Microsoft make IE9 available in windows update.
I’m using wordpress 3.04, is the latest wordpress version fixing the issue?

Looks like a TinyMCE / IE9 compatibility issue. Not sure if WordPress is being shipped with the latest version but the TinyMCE developer says they’ve now fixed the issue.

Thanks zoonini for news, and we wait WP developers, when upgrade TinyMCE in next build…

Just switched a client to Google Chrome from IE 9 because he couldn’t add links. (WP version 3.2.1; IE 9.0.1)

I guess there are still some issues, although he said the problem didn’t start until a couple of days ago when he installed a security update.

I’d be more upset if I didn’t know how much he was going to enjoy using Chrome once he gets used to it.

Client is having all sorts of problems within the editscreen when working with IE9.
Tested myself and having same issues.

    – image is placed under the text in the post although placed in the text
    – image can’t be moved by dragging.
    – switching between wysiwyg an HTML not working most of the time
    – serveral other buttons don’t work

    Working with WP 3.0.5

    Please post a new topic.

Just found a solution. Run IE9 in Compatibility View.
Not really a permanent solution in my opinion but an work-around untill this is solved.

    Here’s where I found this: http://wpmu.org/a-quick-fix-for-your-ie-9-and-wordpress-woes/
