Support » Fixing WordPress » [Pinging] How to disable pinging only WITHIN the blog? please help..

  • Hi there, me once again, asking a question of course =\…

I’ve came to the conclusion that pinging within my own blog is annoying, if i mention a post of my own and link to it, i don’t need it to show me it’s pinged and pump the linked post comment count.

See, i do want to know when OTHER AUTHORS FROM OTHER BLOGS ping/trackback my posts, but i don’t need my own pings, is there a way to disable pings WITHIN the blog?

    Thanks,
    Heat

  • If you use relative path (instead of absolute) the “self pinging” will not happen.

You could just set up a filter to drop these pingbacks as they come in.

    mark,
this might be an accepted answer in the hackers list, but in the forum you either give a full explanation AND code, or better don’t say anything. In the forum you deal with users who do not have code writing skills, so come down to the earth and give a nice explanation of you really want to help 🙂
