I am trying to install Wordpress on my Powweb hosted site. After getting to the last part of the 5 minute install, i click on the install under admin file and the only thing that happens is wordpad pops up. doens't ask for username os password or anything. Any ideas?
This is actually being installed in and served by a web server is it?

Yes, i uploaded the files to the server yesterday and i followed the directions. Upon clicking on the install.php all i get is a pop up wordpad . It is supposed to sefl install right?
garybigg. Do not click on install.php.
After uploading the files, go to the url http://example.com/wordpress/install.php
in other words, access the install.php page using your favourite browser.

would i replace example.com with my own domain name?
yes, of course, I am sorry I forgot to mention that. so now, If example.com were your domain name and if wordpress files are in the wordpress folder in your website's root, then
http://example.com/wordpress/wp-admin/install.php is where you should go to , using your browser, to install.

Ok i did that now i get an error message saying:
Error establishing a database connection! This probably means that the connection information in youn wp-config.php file is incorrect. Double check it and try again.
Are you sure you have the correct user/password?
Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
Are you sure that the database server is running?
At least i got something this time !
