• The client wants static site with a news blog for annual event, but this year, there’s not much additional news beyond that in a few static pages, so client just requested that I remove the news (in the menu) for now, but bring it back later.

Here’s my question: I made a page called “news” and selected it for the “Post page” in Settings > Reading. I’ve unselected it, and plan to delete that news page (thus the menu item).

When I’m ready to turn the blog back on, do I just create a post page (News) again, and select it under Settings > Reading > News?

And, are there any hazards in deleting the page? Is there a help file that I can bookmark when it’s time to revive the blog/News page?

    Thanks

  • That will work, but you might want to just hide that page from the navigation as well..but either way, it shouldn’t hurt to remove the page for the time being.

NOTE: If you put that page in the Trash, make sure and permanently delete it before creating the page again, otherwise your permalink will be yoursite.com/news-2 or something similar.

    Thanks Shayne,

I moved the “News” page to the trash, and intend to move it out later to restore it. I have to document what I’ve done, so I (or the administrator) know what do in nine months.
