Same slug as category and tag?

I am trying to create a tag with the name business inside a parent category called reviews, but I can’t do this because the slug already exists as a tag. WTF does wordpress impose this restriction for? This is the dumbest thing I have ever seen. The slug doesn’t uniquely identify anything, the FULL URL obviously does. This restriction is a big pain because it means I have to change all my urls and from /reviews/business to /reviews/business-reviews which is ugly.

Does anyone know any work around to these issues?
