(I tried searching through the archives for this but I kept running into posts on WordPress post slowness. I am not talking about that.)
I am talking about these support forums. I am working with Firefox 1.0.7 (waiting for my distribution to package 1.5x) on Linux and these pages take ages to scroll. My processor usage maxes out as I try to move down and read posts.
Is anyone else experiencing this? It doesn't happen when I'm on another computer in Windows. It didn't happen before. I am beginning to think it is all related to the evil (but somewhat cool) yellow fade to grey scripting things that are messing with the canvas somehow.
For what it's worth, I'm using Firefox 1.0.7 on Fedora Core 4 with no problems.
And I'm on RHEL4 which is probably FC3ish. This is driving me nuts.
It's behaving just like one of the older (and evil) gnome-terminals. When it needs to scroll, the X processor usage shoots near 100%, effectively making everything in the window seem sluggish.
IF it is old enough, perhaps it is struggling with some javascript... I remember I had some problems with that on older versions of FF.
Yes, I am fairly certain it is that, but older version of what (supporting library)? I am running Firefox 1.0.7, so the problem is probably not there. Could it be something else?
Maybe it's the way my distribution builds the thing.
