• Hello,
I tried to install WordPress in my ISP web space but it doesn’t work.
The error message is coming when i’m doing the 4 step of the 5 min install (“Point your browser to wp-admin/install-config.php.”
I get this message”Parse error: parse error in /var/www/free.fr/a/4/elerion/wp-admin/install.php on line 383″
The server is running PHP 4, MySQL 4.0.16, phpMyAdmin 2.5.6-rc1. The version of wordpress i use is the last stable version, wordpress-1.0.2-blakey. I know all my login, password, sql base name.
I tried to edit manually yhe file “wp-config-sample.php” and rename it as it is said on the “readme.html”, but it does’nt help.
I don’t know PHP, and cannot fix the error on the 383 ligne of the
    install.php file.
    Can somebody help me?
    Thanks.

  • Line 383 is a commented out line (one with // in the beginning, so you can safely delete and try installing again. Hope that helps.

If the line is commented out then deleting it will not change a thing.
