Support » Fixing WordPress » Unable to have the same name for category base and page that already exists

  • Quick question—this is a tricky one.

I want to have my URLs structured so “blog” is in the category base, ie; blog/categories/postname

Only problem is, when I restructure the URLs in the WordPress administration panel to do this, there is a conflict and when I try to view the individual blog posts, I get a 404 error. There is some sort of conflict going on because I already have “blog” as an individual page and I am also using “blog” as the category base.

If I then restructure the URLs to posts/categories/postname it works fine.
Is there a way that I can have both a “blog” page and the word “blog” as the category base, without it stuffing up?

This would help in my aim of keeping the my blog posts separate from my site’s content, also I think it makes the sites navigation a bit more usable.

    Any ideas?
    Thanks!
