When editing the Tennis page and other child pages, on the right hand side under page attributes select sport as is parent page.
I’m guessing you’re not using custom menus.
See the “depth” option on this page. setting depth to 1 will restrict you menu to top level pages only.
Thanks for the replies, pals.
ironfenix, I did exactly that when I created the Tennis page. I was surprised, then, to see it displayed in the main menu. That’s what prompted me to seek help. If, indeed, this action should suppress the Tennis menu item, it’s just not happening. Could the choice of theme have something to do with it? I’d have thought that it’d be a global WordPress rule, unaffected by a theme. I may be wrong there. I’m using the German Newspaper 1.2.33 theme.
dfunkydog, no, I’m not using Custom menus, because the description says that the menu would appear in the side bar. I want it where it is now, i.e., at the top.
“The current theme does not natively support menus, but you can use the “Custom Menu” widget to add any menus you create here to the theme’s sidebar.”
I’ll look into your “depth” suggestion and tell you how I got on.
Setting ‘depth’ to “1” instead of the default “-1” did the trick. Genius! Thanks again.
