  • I wasn’t particularly happy with the way searching worked in WP 1.2-beta (I have no idea if this applies to 1.0.2 or not), so I changed the code in wp-blog-header.php which deals with searching.
Previously, searching for "foo bar" baz would find entries with all three words in any order (or “foo bar baz” as a string, which I would think would be caught by the first condition. *shrug*). I wanted it to find entries with the string foo bar and the word baz. This is different from the behavior you get with $sentence set, too, since I wanted it to work as baz "foo bar" as well.
If this sounds useful to you, you can find a patch at http://www.elsewhere.org/journal/wp-search-patch.txt

Oh, and I should mention that this patch is against the current (as of 2004.05.07 14:46 PST) CVS, not the beta tarball. It may or may not work for previous versions, it may or may not work for you, standard disclaimers, etc. It works for me.
