In an attempt to fill a hole (well, until a more official hole filler comes along), I set up A Yahoo! group to provide a community and support for WordPress.com members:

As I state in the welcome message there:
"If you have a question, problem, observation, or just want to chat with fellow wp.com users, join us. But keep in mind this is just a forum for users helping users. Please don't expect miracles (though you never know)."
