• First off, this is not the same error that Internet Explorer users are encountering where they are reporting a blank page when trying to process an error message.

    In my case, the comment is posted even though the 500 ISE is displayed.

    Edit: it appears that if I disable both options under “E-mail me whenever” then it works fine. E-mail server problem?

    check with your server.

    meanwhile you may try:

    -deactivating ALL plugins temporarily to narrow down and possibly fix the problem. If the problem goes away, activate them individually (one-by-one) to find the culprit.

    -switching to the default theme (“twentyten”) for a moment by renaming your current theme’s folder in wp-content/themes. The idea is to force WordPress to fall back to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific issue.
