[resolved] 500 Internal Server Error on both site and admin login (3 posts)

I was setting up Better WP security and now I don't have access to my site anymore. Both my admin login page as my index page bring up a 500 Internal Server Error.

I don't know what to do.

I removed the better WP security re-writes from my .htaccess file, but it was of no use.

Can I somehow delete the plugin to get my site working again?

Seems I fixed it by deleting the WP security re-writes from my .htaccess file and deleting the line that puts BWPS in the config - file. i'm able to log in again...

Think I will be uninstalling the plugin.

Glad to hear you're able to log in again.

Yes, simple deleting the folder is not a good thing. You should uninstal it. But if you perform the installation again (before uninstal) it might break your website again because some of the configuration data are being kept in the database. Here has more information you may need:

This plugin is a good one, actually you may use it without causing the 500 errors. Don't enable the features you don't need in this plugin. Some of them requires lots memory. So far what I know are File Change Detection and Backup. Try to disable them, this plugin is great perhaps you may love it too.
