I'm trying to do a new install at a host I've never used before, and I'm getting a 500 error, I'm using the latest version of WP, and believe that I have set up the config file correctly. The host I'm using is Fatcow. They're running PHP 4.3.10 and MySQL version 4.0.22.
This is what the error log says:
[Sun Aug 7 11:35:45 2005] [error] (2)No such file or directory: Apache::SubProcess exec of /usr/local/users/moo/v/i/moo.vivian1/php4.3.10 failed
I can't figure out what is missing...

I think there may be a problem with the server. I just created a simple info.php file that only containd a infophp(); function and got the same 500 error.

I'm on Fatcow as well, and getting the same error:
[Thu Aug 11 15:02:57 2005] [error] (2)No such file or directory: Apache::SubProcess exec of /usr/local/users/moo/f/r/moo.frank144/php4.3.10 failed
Does anybody with Fatcow know how to fix this? I'm relatively new at this stuff, but I'm trying to give it a shot. Thanks.
The best course of action would be to contact Fatcow's support...

I'm an ocassional Fatcow user, and I can confirm that PHP is broken on some of their servers until you contact tech support. Then they'll run a program on their end that enables it. Yet another reason to find alternate hosting, IMO.

I had this exact same experience today when trying to install WordPress at FatCow. A bit more info from FatCow tech support to add this thread: CGI Management was not enabled on my account.
Their Tech Support enabled CGI Management for me, but then told me it wouldn't take effect until the next server refresh -- which was 8 hours away!!
So guess what I did: I cancelled my FatCow account and signed up at MidPhase. I had WordPress up and running a couple of hours later. Best decision I made all day.
