I had spam bots spamming my WP blogs. Every day they'd make about 5 attempts each, each night I erased them. I started to wonder, how many times are they going to try? Can't the bot SEE each and every attempt has failed?
Well, maybe it can see. For some reason, it stopped.

The bot doesn't see failed attempts, and even if it did, it wouldn't care. The bot's purpose is to fire off spam in random directions. Or, visit a random blog, spam it, and move on. Checking the blog for successes or failures would only eat up time and resources. All these bots care about is blind efficiency.
And, it (or something like it) will be back.

If a bot could care about anything I doubt it would be "blind efficiency" (whatever that means ;-) The only time an instigator of bots would care about efficiency is if a lack of it hit him or her in the wallet, which it doesn't (wish it did, but it doesn't).
If every time one knocked on my door it cost the author a dime, they would soon put my site on their "do not disturb" list - like the fax spammers learned when I took them to small claims court.

Mr. Smithee, may I say that each and every one of your films are both terrible and unique? Unique in that they feel like they were directed by different people, terrible in that none of them are good.
"Blind Efficiency" (in this case) = The number of blogs hit in a given amount of time, regardless of successes or failures.

Well, my first film "Death of a Gunfighter" is still my best.
It has been noted in other places that the spammers are having difficulties:

They WILL be back, and with a vengeance - they have time to make up for...
