• (I’m actually using 3.0.3)

Seeing this — “The final preparation step is to disable plugins. Now, you don’t have to do this, but every now and again…” — at http://codex.wordpress.org/Upgrading_WordPress, not a strong statement, I didn’t disable plugins when upgrading from 2.1x to 3.0.3.

The expanded updating instructions are *much* more insistent about disabling plugins, and so should the above page apparently, as…

…I now have a fatal error logging into my site at http://www.socialcomputing.org.

    What do I do?

Forgot to give the fatal error:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare register_sidebars() (previously declared in /home/tmandel/socialcomputing.org/wp-includes/widgets.php:477) in /home/tmandel/socialcomputing.org/wp-content/plugins/widgets/widgets.php on line 42

Again… what am I to do? Edit widgets.php by hand to remove line 42? Or…?

Since WP 2.2, widgets are part of WordPress Core, so this plugin isn’t required anymore and causes a conflict. You should remove this plugin.

Thanks! Did it, and got past the problem.
