• I would like to link to a random selection of Amazon products. Rather than inputting specific product ids, I would like to randomly select products from the Amazon top lists in particular categories. That way, I can set it once and forget it.

I have noticed that Amazon and a number of other 3rd parties have made Amazon RSS feeds available.

Has anyone created a plugin that can take an Amazon feed and translate this into the required HTML to display a set of products in the sidebar?

    Regards,

  • Is there something special about them that they wouldn’t work with the existing RSS plugins?

The RSS plugins I have used so far have been for simple textual feeds.

An Amazon RSS feed would have image URLs enclosed. You would also want to modify the destination URL to include an affiliate ID.

You can still use an aggregator. It will show the pics and links. I like carp http://www.geckotribe.com/rss/carp/ . not sure if you’d have to configure anything to get the pics and whatnot to show up, but all the documentation is on their site.
