The site is simply going to just be users submitting articles with a good filing system to be able to search for articles and very communal oriented.
Do you just want some plugin suggestions or ….?
I’d consider BuddyPress if you want a community site.
I’m not sure i can be any clearer then this link http://www.worldvillage.com I’m looking for suggestions on plugins and or themes best to handle it for the simplest CMS to achieve it.
For example i don’t know the name of a plugin that will do a widget with an Avatar and the users post and a link to say there profile where you’ll find other articles etc.
I like TwentyTen because it is clear cut, looks simple it’s just a good theme i rekon. It looks like a peoples theme.
You could ask ’em.

I’d take a guess and say they’re using BuddyPress as well. But the rest is hard to say. Ask them. They may tell you.
I’m going to build an empire. I’m all about investing in property, so articles will be from real estate agents, developers, rent to buy investors, home owners, how to DIY and renovate (rehab) etc. I want to build property wiki kind of but with articles informative information from all areas.
Because i’m about property i want it to be the concept of “Build an Empire” again similar to the Villagers. But each person will build an empire, Empires, Emperors.
Can you give any BuddyPress example web sites of similar characteristics?

Pointer – Ask the site you admire how they did it. Ask ’em nicely. Maybe they’ll tell you their list of plugins.

Well … he’s a liar or he didn’t get what you asked. I can tell you he’s using at least 6 plugins on the site, right now (they’re in his freakin’ source code).

Depends on how you’re managing the network. If it’s WordPress Multisite, then yes.

Yes, that is what I’m using. Though as an of topic thing i find it od trying to tell anyone I’ve made a brand new site when they look at it and see a web site nooks like just another page link. MU should have been called Multi Functional Sections MFS or something.

But.
WPMU is not MultiUser anymore, it’s MultiSite 🙂 Calling it MU will make people think you’re using the old 2.9.2 version. Doesn’t matter what they think it is, matters how easy it is for you to do everything 😉
