Support » Fixing WordPress » Static Home Page issue

  • Hi This is my first post here so firstly I hope it’s in the right place!

I am about to launch a new WordPress site and wanted to set a static page as the home page. I worked out how to do this by using settings/reading but when I set it the main page header changes from an H1 to an h2 tag making it display differently/wrongly!

You can see what I mean here

I was wondering if anyone out there had any idea how to fix this, if you check out any of the other pages you will see how the title should look.

I have changed which page is set as the home page and whatever page I use the same error happens.

Any help you guys and girls can give me would be really appreciated.

    Cheers

  • Your static home page will using either the front-page.php or page.php template file. That’s the file you will need to edit.

Thanks for the reply, because it did the same thing to all pages I was assuming it was something in the page.php, I just dont have enough experience to work out whatit could be, I suppose I was hoping that someone might have seen this before.

I will have a look at the page.php and see if I can see where this is happening.

If anyoneelse has seen this before and can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it

    Cheers

I couldnt find what was causing the problem on the page.php but did manage to solve it. I am using a plugin called WP Title 2 that enables me to change the titles on the pages so they are different from the menu links… in this plug in I found there was an HTML option so I turned that on and added an h1 tag and it fixed the display problem.

    Thanks for helping
