Hi Frank, by default, Authors, Contributors, and Subscribers have no access to Meteor Slides. Administrators and Editors are able to create and edit Slides and Slideshows, and only Administrators are able to access the settings page.

What plugin are you using to create your custom role? It sounds like your Associate role is built off of the Editor role, this is why it can access the Slides menu, if it was built off of the Author or lower it shouldn’t have access.

I haven’t created any specific capabilities into Meteor Slides, but I will look into doing this for the next version.

Role Scoper and User Capabilities Editor are two plugins I use.

Yes, having plugin specific capabilities would make using Meteor Slides far easier on a site where roles are vital. Nice work!

I looked into this a bit more, in the next version of Meteor Slides, I’ll add custom capabilities so it doesn’t use the default page capabilities.

It’ll be set up to be managed with the Members plugin, but you should be able to use the capabilities with other plugins, or manually filter at least some of them to get more control.
