Actually, that relates to a bug I found in Redux, custom fields are not visible during an admin new user creation. Now, these fields, should they EVER be visible to the user? Like if they went to edit their profile should they see these fields, or no?
No they will never be visible to a user. They dont even know they are registered as users. I only need user registration as a way for me to keep data and to invoice clients.

OK, well that’s good, now, like I said the custom fields are broken from the admin side, but you could turn off user notification and create users using the regular registration page. Just add the fields you want and make sure to check profile and registration. Once I have the bug resolved you won’t need to use the registration page and can just add users via the normal control panel.
Would that mean I would have to activate user registration from the front end?
I would rather not do that.
Would an option be to create the user from admin using the fields that show then go into the profile to complete the rest of the fields?

Yes you would have to activate user registration from the front end for that, but, you could remove links to the registration page from your theme, and you could also create an invitation code that only you know to prevent people from trying to register should they figure out the link to the registration page.
Is it not just easier to do it how I suggested? Create the user from admin then go to the profile and fill in the extra fields from there?

Not sure if one way or the other is easier, per say, but either will work. It’s up to you how you want to do it, but like I said, either will work.
