Lately a lot of people asked me if they could use my headlines (trough rss feeds) for theire websites. Ofcoarse i want them to use it but i have no clue what code to provide.
I started looking on Google and i noticed there are lot of free and paid services that provide this, but all use a 3th party server. I want to provide the code myself and as the rss-feeds and files i also want to host the extern headlines.
Does anyone know how to accomplish this? I tried the search but again a lot of 3th party software and/or servers.
You are already providing all that they need - your feed.
All the others have to do is use tools to hook that feed into their display. I would assume that would be their job ?
Yes it is theire job but i would like to provide them a cut&paste code for two simple reasons:
1. Your headlines on other websites usually means more visitors and a higher backlink ammount.
2. I just want to be nice to my visitors and provide them with a code they ask for.
If they have WordPress blog, then I recommend CG-FeedRead. If not, send them to Magpie RSS.
Thank you for your suggestion.
Most don't use Wordpress so unfortunatelly CG-FeedRead is not an option.
The problem with Magpie RSS (excuse me if iam wrong) is thatevery user needs to install the whole script if iam correct. Isn't there a more simplistic script that provides a simple copy&paste (js)script for the end-users?
Yes, there are a number of solutions that will give you a javascript of some sort to show feed-headlines on your site. I don't use them, so I don't know any URLs -- but google should locate them quickly. Some of them may cost a little money potentially.
CG-FeedRead, FYI, can work with ANY kind of PHP website -- it has zero reliance on Wordpress, just a 'plugin stub' like many of my plugins to make it easy to get the thing 'included' at load-time. ;) Yes, it is a script that needs to be installed, so in THIS case it doesn't match your solution -- but in the cases it might be useful, worth a look as it's a heck of a lot lighter-weight than Magpie. ;)
