Easiest way to login editors

Ok, so I am fairly comfortable with wordpress now and am about to launch one of my first sites for an enduser. My question is this, what is the most elegant/simplest way to allow my user access to certain documents so that they can update those documents themselves….preferably from the front end or with limited access and visibility of the back end.
