Codex blocked from China?

I have been unable to access the WP codex from Beijing for several days (and never tried before that).

I can however access the support forum (obviously) and the old wiki.

Anyone have similar problems?

The govt. does often blockstuff here (you can use Blogger or Typepad to post from here, for example, but cannot see sites hosted by sixapart or at blogspot.com. Leninist don’t like uncontrollable content, but why on earth would they block the WP codex?

Based on some testing it seems that the codex is indeed blocked from China. I can’t begin to guess why.

Matt mentioned at the meetup that the problem could be that the codex is hosted on a similar block as geocities and is hosted by yahoo, so that could be why its blocked.

YES, I am able to access those pages. Didn’t know about them, THANKS! That proivdes a workaround the blocked Codex.

Thanks for everybody’s help and esp to Podz for the work to provide this alt. access—lifesaver for me!

My friend in Shanghai has been having problems too. And I directed him to the Podz’s pdf files but apparently the project is dead and the files aren’t available any more.

Walter, just wondering that post was made in Sept but you said you could access the pages on 20th Oct, how did you manage to?

Thanks for the help guys. I’m pretty new to blogging and wordpress and have the codex blocked is a huge bummer.
It is frustrating being in China and having to accept the filtering situation. Oh well.

I am in ShenZhen,cannot direct access WP codex half a years;but you can use Tor to access those GFWed site.

Codex is definitely the bomb! I can now access it using a combination of ways mentioned aboved 🙂 so thanks for all your help. If there was a book version available, I’d probably use it for bedtime reading to.
