• I am selling an invite to WordPress.com on eBay for $5.00, with every penny of it going to St. Judes Children’s Hospital. I already have a wp.com blog and thought this would be a good way to “give back”.

If anyone is thinking of getting a blog over at the .com or know someone that wants an invite, please send them to my auction. I get nothing out of it and I think it’s a great way to share the WP community with other people.

    Thanks for reading!

    Aucution is here.

  • I am sorry to post this subject here, but I this concerns the whole WordPress community.
It seems that I have tried everything to get Matt Mullenweg to hold up his word, but he will not even reply.
The next steps are obvious because I must enforce the terms of the Open Domain program.
I would like the WordPress community to know that I tried to be reasonable.
I expect a lot of money to be wasted that would be better of spent on Open communities.
If anyone would like to comment or respond, please feel free.

I’m not sure I understand what you’re doing with this open domain idea, but it seems like a well intentioned thing. On the other hand, domain squatting is not a well intentioned thing. Shelling out the $6.95 or whatever didn’t, IMNSHO, give you a right to the WordPress.com domain name in the first place. You asked for comments.

I’m just trying to figure out what post #2 has to do with post #1…..

And I’m trying to figure out what Post #2 has to do with ANYTHING at all. What is it that Mr. Johnson wants Matt to do or not do. So confused….

    Regards

Well, the only thing post #2 has in common with post #1 is that it involves wordpress.com. But the details of what’s going on with post #2 were left out here…but (to be honest) it really shouldn’t have been posted here, since it’s irrelevant.

Okay, I wrote post #1, and I’m totally confused b/c of post #2. My invite sold in 12 min’s and went to a good cause…does this upset the author of post #2 or was his/her post “irrelevant” to my post #1?

I’m thinking that the author of post #2 misunderstood what my post was stating.

Okay…I re-read post #2 and I really think he misunderstood me.

I’m not sure what this means: “It seems that I have tried everything to get Matt Mullenweg to hold up his word, but he will not even reply. The next steps are obvious because I must enforce the terms of the Open Domain program.” But before you go off and do something with your “next steps”, you may want to review your OWN terms that you listed as part of your opendomain program:

    Terms of Use

    1. The domain should be used by a group most closely associated to the context of its name
    2. The domain must be actively marketed and significantly used
    1. Periodic content changes
    2. Regular submission to search engines
    3. You can not just create a ‘doorway portal’ with no actual content
    3. Only one domain may be used per group
    4. We would like a link on all pages
    1. The link must be predominate and visiable
    2. The link must be part of the original HTML document and not generated
    3. All outbound links must be marked with the nofollow attribute. For example, all anchor tags should have rel=nofollow in their markup. This does NOT include the link to OpenDomain.Org
    5. NO Pop-ups
    6. NO automatic re-direction to other sites
    7. NO objectionable content
    1. No adult material
    2. No defamatory comments
    8. NO SPAM

Nothing in those “terms” has been broken by WordPress.com or those people selling invites to a service that has no equal. I may be going overboard here but I want to make sure everyone’s on the same page.

I believe the problem is with:

    4. We would like a link on all pages
    1. The link must be predominate and visiable
    2. The link must be part of the original HTML document and not generated

However that is between Matt & OpenDomain to work out and should not be discussed here.

Can someone please lock this thread?
