Support » Fixing WordPress » Permalink Problem

  • Hi,

I have setup permalinks on my site. I have only pages no posts (not sure if thats relevant). I have setup permalinks but when I click through the navigation its hit and miss as to which page is served up.

Switching the permalinks back to the default fixes the problem.

    Has anyone come across this?

btw I have set up the .htaccess correctly (i beleive). I have also built WP sites before with no problem using permanlinks.

    ANy ideas gratfeully received!

  • Have you checked that mod_rewrite is running?

I think so. I have contacted my hosts about the problem and they are normally pretty good at spotting that sort of thing. I have multo domain hosting and its working fine on other sites they host. The permalinks of being rewritten as I can see this in the URL – its just this weird random wrong pages being shown.

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems?

On my server the custom structure is not being written and I receive a bad request error, only default permalink appears to work.
Rewrite rules appear to need updating.
Plugins or themes appear to have no effect.
In addition to not being able to access the backend of other sites on the multisite network
