    Hi,

that’s a great plugin, but I won’t be able to use it for my site until it is possible to add/delete users from groups independently of their WP-role. (More precisely, what I need are groups that correspond to different and partially overlapping subsets of the class of authors.)

Do you plan to add this feature in the near future? If yes, that would be fantastic! If not, please reconsider… 🙂 At the moment, I use ‘Page Security by Contexture’ instead, but I’d prefer to use ‘User Access’ since it also applies to categories.

    Thanks & greetings!

You can use user groups independently of WP-roles. You have to unset the role affiliation at the user groups.

Thanks a lot for the quick help! Somehow I thought that had to choose one of the roles for each group… didn’t try it out without one! 🙂

So on this note, would you just change a role from say “Editor” to “—no role for this site—” from within the User Groups menu? Or can you leave the role as “Editor” and just set User Group at the bottom?

I’m still having the same issue with the latest plugin. I’m not able to figure out where exactly I can add a user to my user group. I see add by ip. But I want to add by their registered userid.

Yeah a bit confusing at first.
Perhaps should be added to faq.

UAM–>Manage user groups –> Role affiliation –> unchecked

eg) When creating a group make sure role affiliation is unchecked.

Then go edit a specif user.
Bottom of page under User groups menus.
select which groups user should belong to.
