   I received a "Golden Ticket" email on Monday night. I redeemed it and set up my blog, which should appear at http://andrewharden.wordpress.com

   Yesterday I even posted to it. Twice!! Everything worked fine. Now whenever I try to access my blog or pretty much any other wordpress.com site, I get an error saying

   "It looks like you haven't installed wordpress. Try running install.php."

   So I click "install.php" and it says it's already installed and I should clear my database tables. But I don't have any database tables. My blog was hosted BY WORDPRESS.

   So where did my blog go? I downloaded the software, but I don't know what to do with it. I don't know any PHP or MySQL code, and I don't pay for hosting anywhere else. I was excited cause the hosting was free, now I'm extremely angry, and I kinda wanna go kill something.

   I think they are playing installing all that drool inducing new hardware, my site is doing the same so just hang in there and things will be back bigger and better than ever before you know it. :)

   Yeah... even the main http://wordpress.com site is showing the "install.php" link. Hold tight... (though one would have thunk they'd put up a banner page and a redirect saying "we're busy" or something...)

   So is my login information for my blog affected by the fact that I had to register and get a new password on this site?

   (andrewharden) Nope, not affected. Different sites, different authentication. "wordpress.org" != "wordpress.com"

   And more importantly, do I need to have to actual wordpress software if I'm being hosted by them? I did delete it last night cause, well, I figured I didn't need it since everything was on their servers

   (andrewharden) There's nothing you need on your computer to use wordpress.* other than a web browser. The messages you saw (see? still?) on wordpress.com are for *them*, not *us*.

   Yeah I'm having the same trouble... I'm speculating that their just implementing new things or fixing bugs. The idea behind this is a beta test, so be patient and sensitive to what they're doing.

   Wordpress.com uses Wordpress MU to be able to provide individual blogs to a multitude of users and is a totally hosted solution. You don't need your own Wordpress blog as it is all right there on Wordpress.com for you and eventually we will hopefully even see our grandma's blogging on Wordpress.com as it should be that easy to use. :)
