   I was just wondering if i can remove the text 'powered by wordpress' from my site. in the license text that comes with the installation files nowhere it is mentioned that i need to retain that text.

   modify your themes files...that's the place u need to see.

   Odds are it's in the footer.php file of the theme you are using.

   No, it doesn't. I'm not sure why, but it has been discussed before.
