• I do not know if this is a strange question, but I feel it is accurate.

This is the short story. I own a blog and I paste a lot of pictures and videos on it! I used to use the embed function. However, it took 6-8 seconds for it to pop up on my screen and then another 2-3 seconds if I switched tabs. Yes, I clocked it many, many times. Then I inserted a module that I would not have to hit the embed function. The module was on my tool bar. Hence, this only takes two seconds…

My friend let me be the author on his wordpress blog. Hence, I went in and was VERY surprised when I clicked the embed function. HIS only took 2-3 seconds to load, and only took 1-2 seconds to switch tabs.

I continued using his admin embed function and I compared it to mine. His IS significantly faster!

    1. Is this normal? Have other people experienced this?
    2. How can I make mine faster?

    thanks in advance…

    ~Rich

Yeah, 6 – 8 seconds is definitely not normal.

Try deactivating all plugins. If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

If that does not resolve the issue, try switching to the Default theme (WordPress 1.5 – 2.9.2) or the Twenty Ten theme (WordPress 3.0 and higher) to rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can affect the admin panel).

If neither of those make any marked difference, refer to this guide:

Keep in mind that you could simply be on a slow or oversold server.
