• Home page is a “page”. Posts have 2 categories. One is strictly for “events” the other is strictly for a weekly newsletter.

I’ve been trying and reading the forums for 6 hours now and can’t get anything shy of the RSS plug-in to do what I want. The theme is a custom Artisteer template.

The post in question have body copy and excerpt fields filled as well as the custom tag.. which also did nothing.

I do not want this excerpt to display on every page that uses index.php. Only the :”Home” page. Therefore I need some sort of shortcode that will go to the Posts category “e-pig_page” and post an excerpt frp, the most recent one. If this is not possible, it should be. If my client needs to overwrite the same post so that the URL is always the same.. I/he can live with that as well.

This really seems like it should be a very simple “no-brainer” yet I have read countless articles from people suffering the same frustration. Some extensible “shortCode” would make all the bad go away.

    Any takers?

    stanb17,

I’m not sure I understand what you are saying but I’m going to try to address your question anyway. Here goes…

PostTeaser DO NOT work on singular pages. PostTeaser is design to work in normal non-page homepage as well as archive pages. If you need to tease a “page”, I think you should roll your own page template that pulls the excerpt.

Using PostTeaser to tease a single “page” homepage is too heavy and therefore you should avoid using such plugin.

Using the wrong tool to do the job is like trying to cut down a tree with a penknife. It will only earn you frustration. 😉

HaHa. I like your use of metaphor.

Though you are right.. I was hoping to tweak the collective think-tank of FB developers who have no doubt seen that people (many more than me) are interested in having this functionality and yet.. nobody has stepped up and written something that can do it easily.

    The challenge is ON!!!!
