Support » Fixing WordPress » Permalinks/Post Slug Won't Save Edits

  • I have recently encountered a problem were I cannot edit a post or pages slug as it always reverts to using the posts title seperated by hyphens. I have checked others solutions in that a post could be trashed with the same slug but this is not the case.

I have even tried to write what I want as the posts slug, in the title box and then this becomes the slug and publish. If I then change the title the slug automatically changes.

If I go and change the entry in the database for a posts slug its fine, so its almost like it cannot save the slug to the database.

Anyone with any ideas it would be most appreciated.

Try deactivating all plugins. If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

If that does not resolve the issue, try switching to the Default theme (WordPress 1.5 – 2.9.2) or the Twenty Ten theme (WordPress 3.0 and higher) to rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can affect the admin panel).
