• Hi,
I’m trying to display related posts based on taxonomy tags (terms).

I created one custom taxonomy named: series!
Yes, it’s exactly what you think, I’m trying to avoid using a Series Plugin… non of them really help me and I try them all…
So far, in my test, Simple Taxonomies from Yoast do the job very well… but didn’t find a solution for showing the related articles to a post.

So what do I have for now:
    – one custom taxonomy named: series
    – couple of tags on series taxonomy: BIOS, PC, windows, linux

So, let’s say I have a post with BIOS tag added, how do I automatically display below my post related articles that has the same tag: BIOS?

But what if I have a post with two or more tags (BIOS and PC), can I then display related posts that have one of the tags (BIOS or PC)?

Please ask explanations, if you need!
    Thanks!

  • Hello Nick,
Did you find a solution for this?

    Hi mistercyril,

No I didn’t… actually I kinda abandoned that project, at least for a while, but I’m still interested for a solution…

In a quick search on wp plugins directory I came across Better Related Posts. I think that could help you 😉

    Good luck,

    Hello Nick,

Thanks for your suggestion, unfortunately Better related posts adds a lot of over head to what should be a pretty simple function.

The Major down side is that i pulls related posts but not exclusively, so the first two could actually share the same taxonomy and the rest might have similar content, keywords or titles…

I need a STRICT association of posts with custom post types on the basis of what terms they have in common.

I’ll keep looking and let you know if i make any progress.

    Best,
    C.

This topic is exactly what I’m looking for.

If the current post is tagged with “a101”, display all posts tagged “a101” excluding current post (no duplicate).

I’ve managed to get this to work if the posts are tagged only “a101”, but if they have more than one tag, the query returns no results.

Has anyone found a solution to this? It seems like there would probably be more than just 3 people who could use this.
