    Hi Oliver,

I have installed your latest release/update of your plugin. I don’t get any error messages – though:
I can’t set special access rights for my categories. It tells me: “There are no categories” (which isn’t true). The tags list works fine.

I’d really love to use your plugin to setup the access rights for my categories, too. Can you help or give me some hint?

    Thanks,

  • I installed it this afternoon and I have the same problem.

Hi, I didn’t saw this entry before, as it is not related to the plugin (damn forum). Can you tell me more about your installation or if the error is gone now? I changed a lot of things the last few days.

Ok, I think, I found the problem. I test this plugin with a fresh install, so I check if the first item of the category object exists. If you deleted the first category, the plugin thinks there aren’t more. I edited it to check if, the category objectis empty or not.

In short: In Version 1.4.1 this bug is fixed and will be online in a few minutes. Sorry again, I didn’t saw your bug report. I think, I will have to add a google alert for this. 😀

And thank you for your bug report.

    Hi Oliver,

    works brilliantly now.!!
I see all my categories, and can set rights form them.

Indeed I had renamed the first category, which is always “uncategorized” as I understand, several times, so this might be, where the confusion came from.

Thank’s so much for your help!!

Another quick question: Is there a way with your plugin to also prevent “hidden” categories to be shown in category lists?

    Thank you!

I’m currently working on a function, that does something like this, but it has some pitfalls in it. You cannot tell WP to get all posts from a specific category but keep those articles, that are temporarly allowed. The only way this could be done is to build arrays with allowed and forbidden posts and categories.

This will work fine with a few posts, but with hundreds or thousands – I don’t know now. Give me a few hours to think about this and a few more to test this. 🙂

V1.5.0 is uploading! There is a new column in the category table, where you can select to hide every category in the sidebar (Dropdown or list) for non authorized users.

Please update and tell me, if this works for your needs. 🙂

    Hi Oliver,

thank you so much, and sorry, for getting back only now.
I updated to v 1.5.0 and it is exactly, what I’ve been looking for…
So far I didn’t test every new feauture, but the basic to hide category names in category lists works brilliantly. I’ll keep testing every feature, and will get back to you.

I thouhgt so, that there might be some pitfalls, because I didn’t see any plugins so far, that offer that possible your plugin is offering.
Right now my (photo) blog (with yapb) has about 50 posts, and I didn’t encounter any performance issues so far.

Thanks for the great work – …let’s see if I can find your paypal account to honour this… 😉
