301 Redirect on index.php to show most recent post with 'single' view

Hey,

I’m trying to create a blog with custom page designs for each post. I’d also like the index page to redirect the user to the most recent post automatically. A permanent redirect (301) isn’t hard but I was wondering if there’s a way to make the redirect ‘dynamic’ in the sense that is points to the most recent post. Saves changing the redirect manually every time the blog has a new post added.
