Support » Fixing WordPress » Resolve Domain name to a WP CMS install in a subdirectory – Problems??

  • Hi Guys,

I have a WP CMS install inside a subdirectory of the host space root:

    http://www.xxxx.com/cms1 – ( this url does not exist ).

I cannot post the real URL yet, its a clients site!

I asked the host company to resolve the domain name – http://www.xxxx.com – to the sub directory. Unfortunately WORDPRESS did not like this.

    I spotted this – http://codex.wordpress.org/Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory

However this WP install is more than a blog. It is set up as a CMS, so about 10 static pages. The home page is a static page, the news page is the blog.

Any wisdom on how to achieve the above without errors appreciated. Maybe its not possible so I will have to put the install in the root 🙁

    Aidan

  • Get rid of the domain redirect and then use the instructions in the page you mentioned. It will work – even for a page-based CMS-type site.
