I recently downloaded the plugin DBC backup and had notice it was having trouble automatically backing up my wordpress files.

I had remembered from the faq of the plugin’s page that it said to make sure the permission of the folder it was in was set to 777.

I accidently changed the wp-admin folder to 777 then went to add a new post and it logged me out of my dashboard and showed the wordpress log in screen, I attempted to log back in but the screen just kept refreshing.

I changed the permission back to the default 755 for the wp-admin and logged back into my dashboard, i tried adding a page and that worked fine, when I clicked on comments it logged me out again and did the same thing as above, I tried again making sure the wp-admin folder’s permission settings were still 755 then logged back in and tried to add a new post and it still did not allow me to do it. It just kept refreshing the log in screen.

It’s extremely frustrating as I’m wanting to add a new post but don’t know how to be able to. I thought changing the permissions on the wp-admin back to what they originally were would have resolved it but it hasn’t seemed to have made a difference.

Thanks in advance for anyone who responds I’m most grateful

  • You may need to check the permissions on the sub-folders inside wp-admin. again these should be 755. All files should be set to 644.

Thanks, I refreshed my browser and restarted it and it did the trick.
