[Plugin: NextGEN Gallery] If gallery has only one image, make it link to the image

I want to use my portfolio gallery to display images in series. So, if you click on a thumbnail in the album view, it will take you to the gallery. However, some of the galleries only have one image in them, and it seems kind of useless to click into a one-image gallery, just to have to click on the thumbnail again. Is there a way to use the Album organizer to link galleries AND single images? or a code tweak to make a single image gallery just display the single image?
