After installing the plugin, you need to log in at wordpress.com, get your API key and use it to configure your plugin.
If you don’t have an account on wordpress.com yet, just register there, it’s free.
No we can’t. It says My API I enter is belong to other person who is also me registered in the wordpress.com. ammazingseries is telling about this link http://en.support.wordpress.com/api-keys/ at the bottom there got statsapi1 user but not mention about password.
This only happened on installing wordpress stats plugin in externaly hosted wordpress blog.
The API key “abc123” belongs to the WordPress.com account “myusername”. If you want to use a different account, please enter the correct API key.
The abc123 is the API I get from my account on wordpress.com. But the message above I get after applying the API for Stats plugin on my own wordpress on my domain.
Not sure what to do with the statsapi1 on http://en.support.wordpress.com/api-keys/#changing-the-api-key-used-for-stats
Any ideas?
You can still use the same API. Just enter and continue.
If you don’t have access to the original API key owner’s WordPress.com account, you need to ask the person to go through the steps described in here (and add your email address associated with your API Key)
