• Good Afternoon

I hired a developer to build my site map and to have it automatically submit to the search engine. I no longer work with the developer but I noticed he did not have it automatically alert Yahoo. I am not sure how to do this and was wondering if anyone could take me through it step b step. I am very green to all of this but I am assuming it wouldn’t take much to set up the notification to Yahoo if the sitemap has already been built.

Any assistance would be most appreciated.

  • if you know how to install plugins, this plugin will do it for you almost automatically:

    Good Morning

I do have this plug in installed, I just don’t know how to activate it to automatically notify Yahoo. My developer set it up to notify Google, Bing and Ask but not Yahoo. I require instruction on how to format to automatically notify Yahoo.

    Thank you!

    miavitadolce,

You have to request an App ID from Yahoo. All you have to do is click on the link beside the Yahoo box that says “Request One Here”.

On the application form, use these options:

    Authenication Method: Generic
Developer/Company Name: Your Name or Your Company Name
Product Name: I just used the title of my site
Web Application URL: The address of your website (ex. http://ourplasticlife.com)
    Contact Email: Your email address
Description of application: A description of your site.

Once all of that is filled out, you should get your App ID instantly. Just copy/paste that code in the box on your site. Check the Yahoo box, and you are done. It will then start notifying Yahoo.

    Hope this helped.

I created an api key using the url of my site map, should I apply for a new one under my site url?

Thank you for your help, you are amazing!

I’m not sure if it matters or not to be honest with you. Does it say that Yahoo was notified successfully at the top of the page? If so, I wouldn’t worry about it.

I’m not sure which api key to use the one I originally set up with the sitemap url or the one I created today using the site url.
